Ryan Roberson Jr born April 19th 2006, finished his brave battle with cancer on December 3rd 2020.
Ryan, RJ, was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in July of 2018. He has since been through the hell of Cancer treatment. Chemo after chemo, surgery after surgery, stem cell trials, amputation of his right leg from the hip down, and radiation treatment. The whole time with a smile on his face that lights up a room.
Just before COVID started the medical team and Ryan decided that quality of life was the focus. He started in Hospice Care.
We created a huge bucket list of the things he wanted to experience. BAM COVID hit.
We had the Car Parade for his 14th birthday in April that so many people, The Buzz listeners, showed up and it was more than we ever could have imagined or planned for.
Since then he has had some complications and pain but for the most part he has been good. We were just cruising along enjoying what we could during COVID.
On October 25 2020, We threw Ryan a Christmas party in October since we were told he wouldn’t see Christmas. At this party we hosted a Car Parade for Ryan since he LOVES cars. Over 1000 cars came to show support for Ryan and his brave fight.
This event was so special to Ryan and the whole family as it, sadly, was the last time that Ryan was well enough to leave the house.
On December 3rd, Ryan’s battle ended. He is in the arms of Jesus right now.
Each day support is still being poured out. And the main question we get is “How is the family? How are you?” And here’s the honest answer. “Not great, but hangin on.” Waking up each morning and navigating how to begin a new norm without our precious boy with us, well it’s hard. Some days are harder than those leading up to this moment. The one and only thing getting us all through is our faith and Ryan’s Faith. Knowing he is without a doubt in the arms of Jesus is what gets us through.
While Ryan’s battle has come to a close, the family’s battle has really just begun. Navigating into a “new norm” for his parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, all that loved him, well it is tough. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers and please help us in living out the legacy of Ryan Roberson Jr.. His legacy is strength, courage, a smile of peace and joy, and faith like no other.
We continue to be grateful for the love, support, and prayers. And we continue to pray for you as well. We pray you find faith in Jesus just as Ryan has.

I loved Ryan the moment I met him. Not because of anything he did or said but because that was the energy he put out into the world. When he loved you, he gave all his love, it was never half way. Everyone knows about his amazing smile but there’s so much more pictures can’t show you. Pictures can’t show you that when he laughed, like truly laughed. A full body all or nothing laugh. He gets that from his dad. Pictures don’t tell you that he cried when Binx died on Hocus Pocus. He gets that from his mom. Pictures don’t tell you his dreams when he grew up. He wanted to be a director and to have his name up there with Steven Spielberg, Rob Zombie and George Lucas. He didn’t want to be in the spot light. He wanted to make his impact behind the scenes. He had a whole plan to go to New York to a film college and make his mark in the film industry. If you have ever watched a movie with Ryan then you would have known that this career path would have been perfect for him. By the end of the movie you would have known all the good parts, the really bad parts and what they should have done different and which actors could have done it better. Ryan is an artist and he projected that in everything he did. I could sit here all day and tell you all about what pictures can’t tell you.
Ryan’s impact on this world is more than we could ever imagine. He gave hope to those who had seem to lose theirs, he gave strength to those who felt they were at their weakest and he helped countless people find their way to the Lord. He did all of these things by being strong, brave and relentless facing something so hard. I have always said that if I can save one person in my life it was a good life. I don’t know if I have done so but I cant even fathom how many people Ryan has saved, so though it was a short life it was a GOOD life. He taught me to love even when its hard, to smile even through the pain, to laugh even when you hurt. He brought me back to Jesus. I had lost my way a long time ago and Ryan helped to bring that light back into my life. We may never know why this happened to Ryan or why God needed him more in Heaven then we needed him here on earth but where we only see the trees God sees the whole forest. I do know this, Ryan is whole again, he is in Heaven, he has his own room where he can decorate it however he wants, he has his vision and hand strength were he can paint with his Mimi pictures with colors our earthly eyes could never imagine, he probably running through fields of gold with his new legs. Not because he likes to run (Ryan was opposed to anything athletic) but because for the first time in two in a half years he can. Making comics with Stan Lee and dancing with Jesus. A piece of me is in Heaven with him and a piece of him is here with me and it will be a beautiful day when I see him at the gates of Heaven where I know he will be waiting with a smile and a hug meant just for me.
As Ryan’s family, we are trying to find our way. Right now the focus is on waking up and making it through each day. Our long term goal is to start a non-profit to help kids and their families that are battling life changing long term diseases. We will be known as Ryan’s Rebel Alliance.
