Ryan’s Medical Expenses

Donation protected
As most of you know, I’m Megan. Ryan Partner’s sister. If you’ve been following along, you know that Ryan has been in the ICU for two weeks in critical condition.

Wednesday August 30, 2023, my brother went to the ER for extreme abdominal pain. A CT scan showed that his gallbladder needed to come out, but that was just the start of everything . Ryan was still writhing in pain even after the surgery. His heart rate went up to 180, his blood pressure dropped, and he was breathing fast and shallow. They decided to put him on the ventilator. From there, they discovered that Ryan was severely septic, he required several blood pressure meds to keep him stable. His kidneys started shutting down and his abdomen started to fill with fluid. Despite having a drain in place, Ryan continued to accumulate fluid, spiking high fevers, and he also had a fungal infection. After several different antibiotics and an antifungal, he seemed to slightly improve. He was able to come off all his blood pressure drips, and his fevers started to go away. Due to his kidney function at the time, they couldn’t do another CT scan to see what was going on with his abdomen. Last Saturday (9/9) his kidney function was good enough to do the scan which revealed a perforation in his small intestine. This means stool and air was leaking into his abdomen, mixing with the fluid that was already there. This fluid was causing major issues with his breathing and blood pressure. They cleaned him out and he had 5 liters of fluid that they drained. They figured this was the source of the sepsis, but he continued to spike high fevers after this very invasive surgery. 2 nights ago, they discovered a bleed somewhere in his stomach. His hemoglobin was critically low, so he is received blood and went through another procedure that failed. Ryan is still bleeding as of today. He is still on the ventilator, and the doctors think the cause of all this is from a 4cm tumor that he has on his pancreas. We discovered that Ryan shares the same genetic disorder that my dad and myself have that’s called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type I. This disease causes malignant or benign tumors to grow on your endocrine glands. They believe the pancreatic tumor is secreting large amounts of acid that wore a hole in his intestine and stomach. He lives in San Antonio, TX by himself with his dog Harvey. Harvey is currently in a boarding facility and Ryan has a very long road ahead of him. Since he is out of work, unable to take care of his dog, and is accruing thousands of dollars in medical debt, my family and I thought it would be best to ask for donations for him. 100% of the funds will go towards Ryan’s medical expenses. Anything to help him at this point is very much appreciated.
