Ryan is my oldest son. He is a single dad raising a wonderful son Sayer, 8 yrs old. Last year he felt a lump on his neck and like all men felt it was something that would go away. Unfortnately this did not happen.





This past Thanksgiving his neck grew bigger than his head and he was in pain, not sleeping, losing weight, night sweats etc. He went in to  a local drop in medical center and without examining him, the doctor pronounce Hodgkins and sent him on his way. It was a shock! How is it a doctor just says that, as he is exiting,  without any empathy or sound advice. This was Christmas and how does he face his son with this news!

He automatically reacted by stating he would not go through the treatment that he has seen his friends and aquaintances go through with devastating affects. As he calmed down and realized that there is hope and this was not necessarily a certain death sentence, he sought help.

San Luis Obispo County  has only 1 onocology center and he found a great doctor who will be with him for many years to come. Chemotherapy is nothing to boast about. It is a poison, while helping you, it puts you completely out of commission. Ryan faces 24 weeks of it with the prospect of possible lukemia down the line.

Ryan faces huge medical bills and while insured has huge expeneses ahead of him. Rather than worry how he can support his son, pay medical bills and get better, I would like to take that burden off him by reaching out to friends and family to help him out with medical expenses. Ryan has been advised by his physician to take a leave from his work and work toward getting better. Ryan is only 38 yrs old and needs to be there for Sayer.

Please help him through this rough stage of his life. As a mom, I thank you for all the support you can give him.
