Ryan's Battle Buddies
Donation protected
This fundraiser is to support Ryan Garver and his family during Ryan's battle against cancer. Since Ryan was 6 years old, he has been fighting a cancer that affects his central nervous system (brain and spine) called Diffuse Leptomeningeal Glioneuronal Tumor or DLGNT. He is now 17. More recently, him and his family have sought better and more advanced treatment at the children's hospital in Philadelphia. They transport Ryan back and forth from the Pittsburgh area to Philadelphia, sometimes multiple times per week, so he can receive the very best medical treatment available. What good parents wouldn't, right?
Currently, these trips are being done by any means necessary. After all, the most important thing right now is Ryan's health. These trips are mentally and physically tough for Ryan and his entire family, which include his dad Rick, mom Heather, sister Kylie, and two brothers Ty and Dylan. Additionally, they cost time off work for both parents, travel expenses, lodging, food, etc.
What this fundraiser aims to do, is to remove any current or future financial worry or strain, and allow them to continue focusing on what's most important -Ryan. I once asked Ryan before one of his tougher surgeries, "How do you eat an elephant?" to which he replied "I'm not sure." "One bite at a time" I told him. He seemed to like that idea. So what I'm asking, is that we help Ryan and his family eat the elephant, one bite at a time...
