Volunteer Trip to Africa

Hello everyone! My name is Ryann Leahy and I am a sophomore at CU Boulder, majoring in Psychology and Education. I have been given an incredible opportunity to travel to Russinga Island in Kenya, Africa in May of 2016.

Project Humanity is an organization dedicated to identifying and engaging in women’s empowerment projects throughout rural African villages. We hope to promote transformation to all those involved. A main focus of our project is to strengthen these communities and break down personal boundaries through the power of sharing stories.

This opportunity is inspired by my own personal story involving the pain of a loved one’s addiction and finding strength through my struggles. I experienced low self esteem, fear and isolation and was unable to share the truth of my heart. Through my faith I have learned the act of compassion for myself and others. I believe I can help lead others to take the first steps and land with trust.

I hope to take my story to Africa, offering hope, wisdom and healing through shared experiences. The total cost of this trip is $3,395 and any contribution would be appreciated. Thank you!
