Hello, my name is Erin Gainey and I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of our precious friends Katie and Sam Rookstool due to the overwhelming request for ways to support this beautiful family during a very difficult time.

Beautiful Ryann Lee Rookstool was born on April 30th at 9:32 am weighing 7lbs and 9oz. Before she was born it was known that she would have to have immediate surgery for a partial heart (valves only) transplant. Without coincidence, a transplant was available right before her due date and the 15 hour surgery went to plan with minor complications. It has been shared from the doctors that babies with this type of defect do not even make it through pregnancy but Katie and Sam were determined to fight with everything they have to support Ryann Lee as the amazing parents they are. The doctors and nurses have been amazed and in awe of Ryann's story.

Ryann Lee defeated all odds of going full term, stabilizing after at 15 hour long surgery transplant (the third of it's kind ever) and she fought like a princess warrior for two and a half weeks. In that time Ryann Lee's testimony has touched the hearts of so many near and far, captivating strangers and loved ones alike, she has shown strength and determination like none other. In this same time frame a few days after Ryann Lee was born, Katie lost her father Bill to a long battle with cancer. These are unfathomable circumstances and yet Katie and Sam's own strength and faith in God during this process has made a profound impact on so many lives and we empathize with them.

Ryann Lee joined her Heavenly Father and her grandfather on Tuesday, May 16th. While there is peace in knowing that both Bill and Ryann Lee are healed and dancing in glory it is still a very trying time to process the path going forward.
