Ryan's transformation
Donation protected
This is Ryan. By the age of 6 months it was evident that the right side of Ryan's face was developing at an accelerated rate. After countless visits to doctors, specialists, and much testing, Ryan was diagnosed at the age seven with sever fibrous hamartoma of the right facial region. Nothing could be done to help Ryan until his body was done growing. Over the years He has had to have the whole right side of his face shaved daily, and as he grew his eyelid and socket has grown to obstruct vision in the right eye. The tissue growth inside of his mouth has prevented his teeth from growing in completely and prevents his ability to chew on that side of him mouth. Add to all of this, I am sure you can imagine the negative treatment and ridicule of his peers throughout he's 12 years of school. Ryan has stayed strong dispite his afflictions, and is getting ready to graduate High School in May. He is an amazingly strong young man! What does this mean for Ryan today? A team of specialists, a Craniofacial team, have monitored Ryan throughout his life. At this age they have started some procedures in preparation for a multitude of surgeries. This will include oral surgeries, orbital forehead and cheek region surgery including the right eye with orbital floor reconstruction, and orthognathic surgery. Medical expenses for the procedures that have already taken place are proving to exceed the means to continue. Ryan needs our help NOW. Please consider the quality of life these procedures will provide for a young man who has his whole life ahead of him. Without these procedures, Ryan will continue to experience rejection and seclusion into his adult life. Ryan is a intelligent young man who has so much to offer to society. After all the procedures are complete, Ryan will finally be able to lead a healthy normal adult life where he can feel confident and accepted. Thank you for your consideration, Ryan's loving family
