For nearly 20 years, Ryan Tripp was an integral part of the West End Slo-pitch Association (WESA). Throughout his time with the league, Ryan was much more than a player; he was a coach, mentor, teammate, and friend to so many. His charisma, kindness, and incredible sense of humour made him someone people looked forward to seeing at the field, and his ability to connect with others helped make WESA the community it is today.
In June 2024, Ryan passed away following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. While his time with us was far too short, the impact he made on the league and the people around him will continue for years to come.
To honour Ryan’s dedication, passion, and the countless memories he helped create, the WESA commission has made the decision to rename the league’s MVP Trophy in his honour.
This award will serve as a lasting tribute to Ryan, celebrating future players who represent the same spirit, commitment, and love for the game and community that Ryan embodied throughout his years with WESA.
We are asking for the support from the WESA family and the wider community to help make this tribute a reality. A championship-quality trophy that can proudly display decades of recipient names comes with a significant cost, and our goal is to raise $2,000 to purchase the award and preserve Ryan’s legacy within the league for generations to come.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us honour someone who gave so much to our community. Whether you knew Ryan for years or simply want to support the spirit of friendship and connection that he represented, your donation will help ensure his name continues to be celebrated at WESA for many years ahead.
Any additional funds raised beyond the cost of the trophy will be donated toward WESA’s 2026 charity fundraising efforts, continuing Ryan’s legacy of giving back and bringing people together.
Thank you for helping us remember Ryan, celebrate his life, and keep his impact alive.
