“We would like to thank everyone who has shared or contributed so far to saving our rhino.
It inspires and touches the whole Okonjima family to see that there are so many giving hearts out there that care.
We still have not reached our goal, and we hope that you will continue to help, share and contribute until we can secure the future of these beautiful beasts.
Since 1990, Okonjima has provided a safe and sustainable home for nature and wildlife. Through our ‘REWILDING’ approach we strive to protect the environment, restore nature and safeguard all its living creatures. .
It’s about letting nature unfold, and we are just here to give nature a helping hand by protecting it from the greed of man - and here in the Okonjima Nature Reserve, providing the right conditions for nature to enter a ‘twenty first century’ level of wildness.
Okonjima is dedicated to the sustainable conservation of critical habitat and wildlife. Our mission is to provide a sustainable ecosystem, for endangered species, heading for extinction. Which is why these rhinos are on our mind day and night, and also why we are putting all our energy into ensuring their survival and giving it our best shot to fundraise for them to continue their lives and have a future here at Okonjima, hoping that when this pandemic ends, tourism will again take over this role again.
Conservation should be a conversation where everyone is allowed to have an opinion.. and from there can work through our differences towards a better future for all living things and the health of our planet. Hopefully one day we can agree on the fact that animals should not require permission to live on earth, for they were here long before we arrived..
I know we all have problems, living on earth is not always easy and especially after Covid threw us all a curveball, but I like to believe that if we are given an opportunity to SAVE, in a world where even the word SAVING is almost becoming as endangered as a Rhino, then lets join hands.
We, humans have the power to choose what should exist. . . . And in this particular case, we want these rhinos to thrive and have a safe home for as long as they live.
