Ryan Stampe Memorial Scholarship

Our Story-
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of both a tragedy and an opportunity.  On October 9, 2016, Orange County lost an incredible pillar of the community. Ryan Stampe was a Huntington Beach Lifeguard, an Anaheim Firefighter and an active member of his community. Although his service to our community will no longer continue, it is our hope that his contributions to the lives of his friends and family will remain in our hearts forever.

In His Honor-
In Ryan’s honor, we would like to endow a scholarship  in his name so that he may continue to support his community even after his passing. We are calling it the Ryan Stampe Memorial Scholarship fund. This scholarship will be awarded to a senior at Canyon High School who we believe embodies the same character and sense of community service that Ryan did.  As you may or may not know, while at Canyon Ryan participated in water polo all four years and created lifelong friendships with many of his teammates. This scholarship would be used to offset the cost of college tuition, books or vocational and preparatory training.  Given Ryan’s diverse professional experiences, we feel it is important to allow the scholarship committee to disperse the funds to the most qualified candidate.  Even if that person isn’t going straight to a four-year university.

How You Can Help -
In order to make this scholarship a reality, we will need to raise funds. Our goal is to raise largest amount of funds possible in order to allow the scholarship to have the greatest impact on the lives of it's recipiets.  The money collected will be broken into five equal amounts and awarded to a senior at the annual senior banquet each year. It is our sincerest hope that after the fifth year,  the scholarship fund will continue, but we want to set our sights on an achievable goal that will honor Ryan and turn this tragedy into opportunity.

A friend of Ryan's, Scott Goldstein, has spoken with the Director of Athletics for Canyon, Dave Anderson, and he is all for it!

In order to meet our five year goal we will need to raise $5,000, which would allow each year’s scholarship to be worth $1,000. There are no limits on donations and we would happily accept any amount that you could afford to give.  All those who wish to will be recognized in writing during the presentation of the scholarship.  .

If you are seeing this, you are someone who was very much a part of Ryan’s life and someone we would love to have involved in helping us create this scholarship.

If interested in donating and becoming a founding member of this scholarship, please donate! Any and every donation helps.
