Yuba City PD: Man kills woman from previous relationship and shoots other man before killing self

YUBA CITY, Calif. —

A woman is dead, and a man was shot multiple times before a second man turned the gun and killed himself, the Yuba City Police Department said.

In what police are calling "a tragic case of domestic violence," officers believe that the 34-year-old woman and the 36-year-old man who died were previously in a dating relationship.

The police department said officers, around 1:55 a.m., went to an apartment complex at 1290 Northgate Drive near East Onstott Road for a report of shots fired. There, they found the woman dead and a 21-year-old man with multiple wounds in an apartment.

Officers also found the 36-year-old man in a nearby vehicle dead from what they believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the police department said.

While the woman's cause of death is unknown, the police department is investigating it as a homicide. Information released by police did not specify if the woman was also shot.

The names of the man believed responsible for the shooting and the woman killed are not being released by police at this time. The extent of the 21-year-old's injuries is also not known.
