Ryan Minor, former two-sport standout at the University of Oklahoma, has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.
Ryan was a standout basketball and baseball player for OU from 1993 to 1995.
Ryan was an All-American college basketball player at the University of Oklahoma. With the Sooners, he twice led the Big Eight Conference in points per game.[1] As a junior in 1995, he was named the Big Eight Co-Player of the Year.
He helped lead the Sooners as a sophomore in baseball by winning the 1994 College World Series and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Ryan was drafted by both the NBA and Major League Baseball.
From 1996 thru 2001, Ryan played professional baseball. His most notable contribution in the Major Leagues was being the first player to start in front of Cal Ripken Jr. to end his consecutive games played streak.
From 2006 thru 2021, Ryan coached professional baseball.
Ryan is married to Allyson; they have two children, Regan and Finley.
The family has set up a gofundme page for assistance with medical bills.
