Jaggers, Ryan C., April 1, 1970 – November 11, 2023

Ryan Christopher Jaggers, CFA, 53, passed away suddenly of a heart attack at home on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky. It is impossible to express the devastating impact of the loss of Ryan on his family and friends.

Born in Evansville and raised in Newburgh, Indiana, Ryan stayed true to his Indiana roots by spending his undergraduate years at Indiana University Kelley School of Business, enjoying his time as a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, and earning a B.S. in Finance in 1992. Ryan’s experience at IU profoundly shaped his future, as there he met the love of his life, Monet, at age 20, and they have been together ever since.

Ryan and Monet started their professional careers together in Chicago, with Ryan working as a Portfolio Manager at Duff & Phelps Investment Management and later for Zurich Scudder. Ryan went on to earn his MBA in Finance & Management Strategy from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management in 2001. Ryan was a CFA, among holding all relevant financial licenses - Series 3, Series 63, and Series 7. In 2002, fortuitously, Invesco Ltd recruited Ryan to Louisville, Kentucky where Ryan and Monet established their long-time home for raising their family.

With a combination of high financial acumen and warm, engaging personality, Ryan was a rare breed in the competitive investment management industry. His reputation for extraordinary client service and relationships kept companies far and wide seeking to lure him their way. Entrusted with securing and managing institutional clients at various firms such as McDonnell Investment Management and Delaware Investments of the Macquarie Group, Ryan spent most of the last decade as Head of North American Insurance Solutions for Morgan Stanley Investment Management in New York. Most recently, Ryan found tremendous joy in his perfect professional fit with Hamilton Lane based in Pennsylvania as Managing Director, Head of Insurance Solutions. Ryan’s family is so grateful for the wonderful people Ryan worked with throughout his career and most especially for the amazing people at Hamilton Lane.

Although his expertise in complex financial insurance products required him to be based in much larger markets, Ryan always made the selfless choice to travel for his career to allow his family to have a consistent home life in Louisville. This required countless flights and stressful travel for Ryan, but he never missed any important event for his wife and children. Friends and family can recount many examples of Ryan flying home from a packed work week only to attend all sporting events and tournaments for the kids and then tackle some huge household project like renovating the basement by himself, all before catching his next Monday morning flight.

Ryan embraced the great sense of humor that being born on April Fool’s Day requires. He was also kind, thoughtful, loyal, wicked smart, and crafty. He could design, create, and build almost anything, thanks to the childhood influence of his father’s expertise in woodworking and his mother’s interior design talents. Ryan greatly enjoyed playing golf, watching any and all sports of his very athletic children, time with family and friends, making memories at Louisville Country Club, home projects, and of course, Chicago Bears, IU, and Alabama football. One of Ryan’s favorite places was Beaver Creek, Colorado where he enjoyed skiing and summer trips there with his family.

Despite his limited free time, Ryan was a loyal and wonderful friend to so many. He made his friends feel as if they were a top priority, and they could turn to him for any need. Friends locally and across the country are feeling the deep void of his loss. In addition to friendships, Ryan had quite a tight bond with the family’s two golden retrievers, Aspen and Millie, who tried very hard to rule his world, somewhat successfully.

Although his love for his wife, Monet, was obvious to all, Ryan’s children, Cade, Camden, and Alessi, were his greatest joy and source of fulfillment and pride. He gave himself selflessly and fully to his family. As many know, in the past two and a half years, Ryan carried the weight of the world on his shoulders with determination and grace. The unwavering devotion to the care of his wife was the greatest example of resolve, love, and sacrifice imaginable.

Ryan was preceded in death by his mother, Kay Jaggers, and grandparents Clint and Mabel Herron and Mildred Davis.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Monet DeAngelis Jaggers, to whom he was married for over 28 years, his three children Cade, Camden and Alessi Jaggers, his father Bill Jaggers, his dear sister Sally Jaggers Weber (Kent) and her children Jagger, Elle, and Annie, as well as the entire DeAngelis in-law family, who had become his own family – his mother-in-law, Lois, his brothers-in-law Jack (Liana) and Larry and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the incredible outpouring of support from the Louisville community in every way; to the wonderful colleagues at Hamilton Lane for giving Ryan such professional fulfillment in his last year and for their current support; to the many doctors and medical staff at UK and Northwestern Hospitals for their expertise and teamwork with Ryan on Monet’s behalf; and, to D’Etta Thomas for her exceptional friendship, care, advice, and support of the entire Jaggers family, among many other amazingly devoted friends.

Ryan will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of his acquaintance, and his personal and professional legacy will certainly live on in the hearts of his friends and family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 24th at 4:00 pm at St. Francis in the Fields Church, 6710 Wolf Pen Branch Road, Harrods Creek, KY 40027 with a short visitation following in the Narthex Hall. For those unable to attend the service in person, it will be live streamed by St. Francis Church at https://www.stfrancisinthefields.org.

In lieu of flowers, contributions intended for educational expenses for the children as well as ongoing medical expenses may be made to the Ryan Jaggers Memorial Fund through either https://gofundme.com/f/ryan-jaggers-memorial-fund or Zelle by using [email redacted]. The family appreciates all the love and support.
