Savannah & Baby Accident Fund

Donation protected

My sister Savannah, her husband Dane and baby Sophia got into a horrific car accident on Fathers Day evening. Their called rolled on the highway in Dallas multiple times and my sister and her baby had to be extracted from the vehicle. My sister was unconscious. They are currently in the hospital. My sister sustained major injuries to her leg (compound fracture) and severe lacerations on her face requiring 100 stitches. Both my sister and her husband are unable to work due to being 1000 miles from home, without work and no medical insurance. They’re still going to have to pay rent and all of their bills back home as it is. This is a young family just starting out (my sister just turned 20 and baby Sophia is about to have her first birthday on June 24th). Baby Sophia was still nursing full time so this separation mom from baby has been very traumatic.  So they have no money in savings and have maxed out the little credit they had available. Our family is supporting them in every way right now but we can't do this 100% on our own. We need your help.

They were on a family trip in Texas and we all live in Florida. At this point no one knows what’s going to happen or when we’re going to get her back home to FL or how. For now, all of the family is going to go do everything we can to help care for baby Sophia and be there for them as best as we possibly can.

If anyone reading this can help, we would be so thankful. Every dollar counts!! Even if you can’t donate, if you can just SHARE it in hopes of someone else being able to that would be incredible.

Savannah's condition:
Savannah has now been in the hospital for 3 days with major injuries. She's in severe pain with 2 broken bones in her leg as well as exposed flesh and muscle tissue on her inner calf which looks like is going to require multiple skin graph surgeries. She also has deep lacerations (cuts) over her entire body but concentrated on her left leg, shoulder, face and head. Her ear was partially detached and has now been reattached. The internal and external bruising just started to show up on the 3rd day which is also creating severe chest pain. An emergency response team was just sent in yesterday to try and diagnose all the factors creating such intense pain. She is going to have severe scarring on her face and may require reconstructive surgery at some point in the future. Her leg will never fully recover as she now has a titanium rod and screws holding it together.

Baby Sophia:
This has been incredibly stressful for baby Sophia  being separated from mom and dad for the first time in her life.  They tried to keep her in the hospital room with them but it was too hard on everyone including the baby so we have her now with us and take her to spend a few hours a day with her mom and dad.

Their vehicle:
The car was eastbound on Texas 80 near Forney, TX driving back in the rain when it began to hydroplane and the dad lost control of the vehicle. The car spun around 180 degrees hitting the side rail before it began rolling 2 full times. All the windows were shattered and the road filled with their belongings. The car is totaled  and they are now without a vehicle. Because they owed more than the car was worth, it doesn't look like the insurance will cover it all nor replace their vehicle. They will end up owing around $8,000 and still be left without a vehicle.

Dane (the dad):
Dane suffered a shoulder injury making it difficult for him to hold the baby and of course is emotionally devastated. But is staying my Savannah's side 24/7.

Medical care:
Medical care with be in the hundreds of thousands. We are exploring EVERY possibility for charitable contributions to their hospital bills as well as various state insurance possibilities etc. But in any case their portion will still be in the tens of thousands.

How the money will be used:
Care for the mother and the baby over the coming months (physical therapy and rehab).
Assistance for Savannah and child care for baby Sophia to allow Dane to go back to work since Savannah will be unable to care for her.
Medical and reconstructive surgery expenses over the next year.
Rent, utilities, food, diapers, formula until the father can return to work.
Money towards alternative transportation.

There’s no way we can do this on our own. We really need to find some miracle to help them.

Will update as we have them.
