Ryan and Kristie’s Fresh Start

On the evening of August 3, 2018, while heading to Austin to pick up a friend, Ryan and Kristie received a phone call from a neighbor that their home at Stoneybrook Apartments in San Antonio was on fire.  By the time firefighters arrived, their apartment, and surrounding apartments were engulfed. 

Ryan and Kristie’s apartment was completely destroyed, as was the apartment of their downstairs neighbor, Mr. Stewart, when that section of the building partially collapsed. 

Fortunately, and amazingly, no one was injured from the fire. They had Ryan’s dog, Shadow, with them.  We are unsure of the fate of the cats, Louise and Zeppelin, but are hopeful that they escaped when the next door neighbor kicked the door in to try to find them.  

They moved into the apartment on the same day that Ryan was seriously injured in an accident on the job. Although at first, he was able to work intermittently with restrictions, he is no longer working.  It is unknown when he will return to work. 

Ryan, Kristie, and Shadow are currently staying with family.  We are doing this fundraising drive in order to help them with immediate needs and what may be required to re-establish their home when they are able.
