This fundraise is to benefit Chef Tye who runs Straight Outta Soulfood, a Black owned business running into some roadblocks.
Chef Tye has been in the business for 10 years and has been cooking for 20. If you've had his food you know it's exceptional. Him and his mother are incredibly welcoming people who bring culture and goodness to the small city of Eugene, OR.
Recently "investors" reached out to Tye only to try to co-opt and make money off of his business. At the same time the city has stopped his business from providing food because of guidelines about food production out of a home. Although this has never been against doordash policies and Tye only does delivery and take out, it has halted all business for him.
The initial amount is $5,000 so Tye has the ability to rent out a local kitchen space. Please note that the amount will be increased once we meet this initial goal. The ideal is that Tye can work out of a kitchen space that meets the cities conditions, and that eventually Tye can open a Brick and Mortar space. This can cost $25,000-$75,000 which is possible and ever little bit helps. Let's lift up Tye in the meantime while keeping the goals and dreams BIG.
