Fundraising for Tarin

My name is Tarin Shalfy, I am 22 years old, a second-year acting student and a medical clown. Last March, I was informed that I had sarcoma (in fact it is a rare subtype of sarcoma, Small blue round cell sarcoma). An imaging test revealed that the tumor also metastasised into my lungs. At the moment, I am treated with great devotion in the oncology ward of Ichilov Hospital (in day care and full hospitalisation, intermittently) and I have a year of treatment.

My journey to recovery involves a lot of financial expenses: additional medical opinions in Israel and abroad, complementary treatments, special tests, endless taxis (during the treatments I can not travel by bus, let alone bicycles - my ultimate transportation tool) and more. Being a member of a single-parent family, even exacerbates the economic difficulty.

As a medical clown, I am used to being on the other side, on the supporting side, (before school I worked as a medical clown for a few months at a children's hospital in Boston). But the circumstances forced me to be on the other side.

The medical expenses for the next year are expected to $32,000, any help will blessed!

שמי תרין שלפי, אני בת 22 וקצת, סטודנטית למשחק בשנה ב' בסטודיו
למשחק של יורם לווינשטיין וליצנית רפואית בהכשרתי. בחודש מרץ האחרון התבשרתי שאני חולה בסרטן מסוג סרקומה (למעשה, בתת-סוג נדיר של סרקומה). בדיקת הדמיה גילתה שהגידול שלח גרורות גם לריאות. כרגע אני מטופלת במסירות רבה במחלקה האונקולוגית של בית החולים איכילוב (באשפוז יום ובאשפוז מלא, לסירוגין) וצפויה לי שנה של טיפולים.

הדרך שלי להחלמה כרוכה בהרבה מאד הוצאות כספיות: חוות דעת רפואית נוספת בארץ ובחו"ל, טיפולים משלימים, בדיקות מיוחדות, מוניות אינסופיות (בתקופת הטיפולים אין באפשרותי לנסוע באוטובוס, קל וחומר באופניים – כלי התחבורה האולטימטיבי שלי) ועוד ועוד. ההוצאות הצפויות עשויות להגיע ל- כ 100,000 ₪ והעובדה שאני בת למשפחה חד הורית, אף מעצימה את הקושי הכלכלי.

בתור ליצנית רפואית, אני רגילה להיות בצד השני, בצד התומך, המעניק, המעלה את המורל השפוף (לפני הלימודים עבדתי בהתנדבות, כליצנית רפואית, במשך מספר חודשים בבית חולים לילדים בבוסטון) ולא פשוט עבורי לעבור צד, לצד הנזקק. אבל הנסיבות מאלצות אותי לפנות לקבלת סיוע.

*Since Tarin currently lives in Israel, the donations will be transferred from her relative, Michele (team member)  directly to Tarin’s bank account in israel. Tarin’s mother has set up a bank account that is dedicated to Tarin’s fundraising campaign, any funds that will not be needed will be donated.
