Hi everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your incredible support on this journey. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to meet my target in time to begin my course in 2024, but I have some good news! The trustees at The Bridge Theatre Training Company have graciously extended my place to September 2025—three years after my audition. This means I still have the chance to pursue my dream!
I haven’t given up. I’ve already paid over £1,200 toward securing my place, and I’m still working hard to raise the remaining funds. Your support—whether through donations, sharing my story, or words of encouragement—means the world to me.

I unfortunately did not raise enough money on time to enrol to the school this year (2023). However, my place has once again been deferred for September 2024. This gives me a whole year to accumulate more funds through GoFundMe and also my own savings.
I am determined to work hard so that I can attend theatre school by this date!
STORY
My name is Jada Mathewson (she/they). I am a twenty-five year old artist living in South London. After the death of my mother (Toni, 27 Dec 1979 - Dec 03 2021), I realised my life was too short to hold back on what I had truly wanted to do all my life. I want to act. I‘m hungry to perform. I believe I have so much potential to become a professional performer If I set myself on the right path. But unfortunately, due to many life hardships including financial and educational struggles, and many family related trauma and responsibilities not many people my age have experienced, I have never able to fund my dream.
Thus, I have turned to seeking funds from scholarship programs and the public. In early 2022, I auditioned for the one-year professional acting course at The Bridge Theatre Company Training School on Camden. Link to the school‘s website is down below. I was awarded a scholarship offer after the course leaders were so impressed with my performances. When I found about this offer, I was so elated. I was very grateful that the institution wanted me and felt as though I was finally on the right path in life. Although, it was a scholarship, the offer I got was a 1/3 discount in course fees. This went from £8,550 to a total of £5,700 in costs with a £850 deposit.
After many efforts to earn and raise the money, I was not successful and therefore, could not attend that year. This truly broke my heart and I was disappointed that lack of money had yet once again hindered my potential. I am a proud hard-working young woman yet despite me working full time at minimum wage, I cannot raise the money. My offer was deferred for me to begin the course September 2024 if I pay the deposit.
Due to the cost of living, it has become harder to reach my goal. I only support myself, I struggle. I do not have any family members that can assist me financially which is the reason I have always supported myself throughout my adult life. This brings me to the reason of why I have made this page…
I work full-time earning minimum wage and although I seek £6,000 in costs to accept my offer at The Bridge Theatre Training Company. Even if I do not accumulate the full amount of £6,000, I would be truly grateful to any of whom will donate. £850 would be enough to pay the deposit. Anything else I receive in dentations, would be a bonus. I ask sincerely that you hear my story and share this to grow my audience.
