Austin’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Saturday, May 14th, Austin had kicked off his race season in Crawfordsville IN. Late Saturday morning, he had lined up for his first Pro-Sport race of the 2022 season. Unfortunately, the day had taken a turn for the worse in his first race do to the track crew watering the face of one of the bigger jumps on the track. Austin had approached the jump with full commitment as he was all weekend, however do to the slippery conditions from the water, he had spun up the face of the jump. Austin, and his quad came off the jump face at an angle, along with coming up short. When he landed he was thrown off and landed along his left shoulder and side, he did attempt to get up and out of the way of other racers but the quad ended up hitting him knocking him unconscious for about 30-40 seconds. He was rushed off to the nearest emergency room where he was told he would need to be transferred to another hospital in Indianapolis so a doctor who was more equipped to handle his case could over look him. The spinal & neurology doctors found he fractured his C7 along with anterior compression deformity to his T4 and a broad based disc bulge at his L4 and L5. The doctors said he was very lucky. We are asking for your thoughts and prayers to help with Austin’s road to recovery. The next few months will be very difficult with the sudden income loss, finding out his insurance won’t be covering anything, upcoming medical bills from the hospital and any physical therapy he will need to help him recover. Nothing is too small! Any kind of generosity helps to take some weight off of his shoulders and comfort knowing he’s got people who stand behind him in support always. Austin says thank you in advance and for all the love and kind words he’s been given so far.
