Here we go.

Monday, January 22nd - our 13th wedding anniversary, and the day I received the official diagnosis of breast cancer. The Dr had stated she was pretty sure it was cancer the previous week when she conducted the biopsy, but Monday morning, I got "the call."

It still doesn't seem real , but I'm not sure when or even IF it will completely sink in.

The icing on the cake of a shit show Monday? I walk into work, only to be fired. That's a whole other chapter I'm not going to get into now.

Since I won't be working throughout this, we are going to need help. I don't normally ask for help, especially financial. It's embarrassing. But this is such a huge thing to undergo, I just don't think we can handle it alone.

I'm lucky to have excellent medical coverage, but there are still deductibles and coinsurance, until I reach the out of pocket max (which should be by next month).

Not being able to secure a new job, right before I have surgery and any treatments, is what will affect us the most. I don't know any employers who will hire you, and be accepting of many appointments and surgical recovery within the first month of employment.

I knew things would happen pretty quickly, but it's all starting to take off this week.

The imaging/mammogram office set up an appointment for a surgical consult for this Wednesday, January 31st. Then I got a text today, asking me to confirm my appointment with another Dr. Turns out the surgeon's office set up an appointment for me with the oncologist for Wednesday afternoon.

I'm sure I'll know a lot more after Wednesday, and will update my journey.

I'm trying to figure out what kind of going away party I want to have for my breasts, but it will definitely involve cake .

These have been a huge (pun intended) part of me over the years, and I am grateful that they served their main purpose in my life. These soldiers provided nutrition and life to all three of my babies, and their time has come to an end.

Ta ta to the tatas.
