Hi! My name is Taylor.

lorenzo is my 8 year old border collie. Always happy and healthy until six weeks ago when we noticed him coughing. We took him to the emergency vets and he was told he had a large mass in his neck and that it was a tennis ball stuck?. Then the vet came out again and said he has oesophageal collapse, then a third time came out and finally diagnosed him with laryngeal paralysis. We took the vet’s word for it and £2000 later Enzo was home.

Unfortunately over the next few weeks of waiting for specialist referall for a laryngeal tie back for him so he could breath, he got poorly and I started to notice a lack of him going to the toilet, walking, eating etc.

when the day finally come last week for surgery, the soft tissue specialist checked him over, sat down and told me he was worried, Lorenzo was NOT showing any signs of this condition, but all his lymph nodes are swollen, his breathing laboured and lethargic. The vet then broke the news that Enzo has lymphoma and it is quite advanced.

Enzo had gone 4 weeks and 5 days suffering with cancer, due to a wrongful diagnosis so so far away from what he actually had. The mass was recognised and was never treated, no blood tests, no scans. Happy enough to take our money and now my boy may die due to being left untreated this long. I have been trying to treat him for this other condition that doesn’t exist (diet and no exercise) and in turn this has made him weaker! We have raised a complaint to the vets but knowing them they will not care that they’ve risked and cut my dogs life short….

We have a long and painful road ahead and I would love to give Enzo a chance to live longer but unfortunately with this being unexpected and our insurance only covering £5500 of his treatment, we are expecting at very least this to cost £10,000+ over the next six months and need to find a way of helping him, he is my best friend and I will never forgive myself for not giving him this chance
