Help pay for Bellas treatment
Donation protected
I recently had the opportunity to film in the Amazon basin and whilst there formed a bond with a beautiful street dog - Bella. I’ve always been a cat person but she won me over with her kind temper and had the “puppy dog eyes” mastered. She ended up being my shadow whilst there and followed me around every single day, it seemed she was as attached to me as I was to her. I noticed on her shoulder a bot fly infestation so arranged a veterinarian to come to the beach to meet with me as that’s where Bella would meet me each morning. She was given a strong tablet which would kill all the fleas and mange (caused by mites) and I was told the infestation would heal within a few days. I also paid for a 5 day course of antibiotics and vitamins which I had to give her each day. Easy to hide medication in a handful of dog biscuits each morning. Within a couple of days she got her mojo back and the infestation started healing too. She seemed happy and not in pain anymore with soaring energy levels. I wanted to set up a funding page at the time to bring her back to the UK with me but decided she would be much happier in the tiny Ecuadorean village in the Amazon. I figured the stress of flying and a completely new way of life wouldn’t be the same excitement of the rainforest. I have been receiving updates about her since returning and was planning on paying for flea/worming treatment every three months. I’ve just been informed she has pyometra, a life threatening infection common in older unneutered dogs. She needs surgery to remove the infected uterus and ovaries so I wanted to try and raise money for this as it is not something I can afford alone. This money will be used to cover the surgery, post-surgery treatment, food and money towards future medical treatment which will help her find a forever home more easily. I’ve attached some photos of Bella for reference whilst I was there including treatment on the beach, before and after photos of the bot fly infestation, following me wherever we went and most recently at the vets awaiting surgery today. If you can spare any money at all please help and share this post to spread the word.
