A Journey to Complete Healing

Hello, my name is Rita.  I am creating this gofundme page to support my husband Dave on his journey to healing from severe childhood neglect, abuse and trauma.  Dave suffered daily abuse and neglect for 21 years at home at the hands of his parents, who were his only caregivers. An older male cousin molested Dave at age 7, shortly after Dave's mom tried to commit suicide. As a result, Dave has suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder most of his adult life that has been largely untreated due to the lack of help available to trauma sufferers in the general population. He has been on this journey for more than 20 years.  He has been working with counselors and psychiatrists trying different therapy methods and different types of medication with limited effectiveness.  Dave needs a longer term trauma therapy focused treatment plan.  We also feel that it is important to have a program that focuses on the whole person (body, soul and spirit).   We have been searching for a long time and have found  a Christian treatment program called New Life Spirit Recovery.  It is located in Huntington California.  While they normally charge $6,800 for a 30 day treatment program, they are willing to offer Dave a more intensive week long program with a follow up week this summer. The 30 day program is for those with substance abuse issues, of which Dave has none. The long term PTSD, depression, anxiety and fear has taken a serious toll on Dave's mental and emotional health and has had a detrimental effect on his relationships and his marriage. He needs the benefits that this type of program can bring in a safe and healthy therapeutic environment. 

We need to raise money so that Dave can be accepted into this program.  Unfortunately they don't accept health insurance at this time.  Dave has been on disability income for 3 1/2 years. He lost his career as an investigator because of the severity of the abuse and trauma he endured as a child. The sooner we are able to raise the money, the sooner Dave can enter the program.  We have been praying for something like this for a long time and both desire the healing that hopefully it will bring.  We would be so thankful for any help that we receive. Any contribution to the fund would be great. Costs include a round trip plane ticket, lodging, meals, transportation and counseling services at New Life. No other program that we have found is willing to tailor the treatment and therapy specific to Dave's current needs.
