Hi everyone, my name is Gia Higgins. I'm a 15 (almost 16) year old homeschooled equestrian entrepreneur! I've been riding for 10 years, and have always had a passion for rescuing horses. I compete in eventing with my mom, and we run an equine rehab, training, and boarding facility in Southern California called Heartland Hideaway. I have my own one-eyed thoroughbred mare named Star, I rescued her about a year ago. Anyways, enough about me, and onto Milo... I went to a horse auction with a friend last night to look at the tack they had for sale. Of course I had to say hi to the horses. I knew this auction was going to have some neglected horses, (my mom and I rescued and rehabbed a horse years back that was dumped at the same auction) In the very back was a grey stallion, tied up, barely standing, open wounds on his body, and his hocks were all messed up. He was most likely a Charro spanish horse... He was tied to the stall and just had the saddest expression on his face, I couldn't help but give him some love... I went back inside and both me and my friend bid on tack for a few hours. Auction Horse Rescue is an equine rescue that I have been in contact for a few months, and it turns out one of the fosters were there trying to raise awareness to get these horses adopted! Long story short, I couldn't just leave the grey stud there, so the volunteer and I bailed him out. I've been raising funds the past 24 hours and he is now in a safe environment, being quarantined for the next month or two. I need to raise money for Milo, (that's what I named him) he deserves every shot we can give him... I can't do this alone, the rescue and I are doing everything we can but this is when all of need to come together and Milo what he deserves. The vet expenses are not going to be cheap, along with groceries, farrier, etc. He's safe now, and will continue to be in good hands, but PLEASE if you are able to, every donation means the world to Milo and everyone else behind the scenes! Lets raise as much money we can for Mr. Milo, and come together to raise awareness for him!!!
