I am Paul and the father to mine and Gabbys 5 year old son.
As many of you know, Gabby was involved in the Route 91 shooting on Sunday October 1st. In the midst of trying to flee and run for their lives, Gabby attempted to escape over a wall with hundreds of other people. When she got up on the wall, she was knocked off of it falling into a huge tree. At the time she didn't realize but she landed on a tree branch that impaled her and was lodged into her lower abdomen.
She was taken to UMC where she had to have emergency surgery to have the tree branch removed. They had to leave her wound open because of the debris from the branch that was still inside her stomach. Since Sunday, her open wound has been infected twice causing two trips to the emergency room, two follow up doctors appointments, and future doctors appointments.
Although we are very fortunate to have Gabby here with us today, she was still one of the survivors accounted for in the number of those injured from route 91, and also included in the number of those who underwent surgery from sustaining injuries.
Gabby is a full time student, works a full time job, and is a full time mother. Because of her injuries physically and mentally, Gabby will be out of work for atleast a few weeks needing time time heal from the tragic event on Sunday night. Because of that, and the extensive expected medical bills from surgery and the ER, we have created this page to help alleviate some of the financial stress and burdens to be able to take some of the load off her plate to be able to recover without stress.
If you can all imagine what it was like going through Sunday night and feeling overwhelmed as a parent, not working and wondering how she's going to provide for her son.
We are asking for any help and say thank you in advance for the generosity and love that have been given to Gabby during this tragic time. We are #VegasStrong.
