Pursuing My Master's!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jayleen Rosario!
I am a non-binary Afro-Latinx young adult from NYC. I love singing, reading history books, being snuggled by animals, and learning.
In 2020, I graduated with my BSW from CUNY York College. I thought to obtain my Master's as soon as I finished my BSW, but knew I needed to take a break. As much as I loved learning, I also understood that in order to continue, I had to keep my mental health..healthy!
During the break, I was able to gain work experience as a:
- Youth Advocate Worker at Safe Horizon Streetwork Project
- Social Worker Assistant at Maimonides Medical Center
- Case Manager at Housing and Services
I currently am working at the Center for Wellbeing & Happiness (CWBH), a free wellness community center open to Lower East Side community members of all ages and genders and apart of my district's community board, Community Board 3, serving on the Transportation, Public Safety, Sanitation & Environment and Cannabis Task Force committee.
The reason I bolded "learning" in the beginning of my introduction is because I enjoy just that and I am looking too, as the title says, pursue my master's. With all of my work and real life experience, I debated what other degree path I could potentially take…but social work has always been my calling. I would love to continue my education and ultimately work with older adults (my absolute fave population!!).
The money donated is an estimate to assist with transportation costs, school materials, and tuition for at least, the first year. I also will be contributing a majority of my own money towards my education, but with other expenses, it will be challenging.
I appreciate anyone who read this far and also took time to donate to me advancing my education.
When I obtain my degree, my tears of joy and numb hands from writing so much will be because of you!
