Our beloved Spanish Teacher had her car broken into on a vacation and many important items were stolen. She is such a loving, giving teacher and we hope to help her recoup some of what was lost. Here is her story:
"Hello Dear Families,
We just came yesterday night from our trip to Spain to set things for our arrival in August. We made great friends and enjoyed there a lot. It was very intense but also beautiful.
On Saturday afternoon though, while we were spending some time in Denia's beach until the dinner we had set up with 2 amazing families, someone who saw that we had things in the back of our car, broke the back window and stole 3 backpacks, 2 of them with our work computers, my camera, tripod, passport and more and one with all the toys, books and things of the children.
Since we were camping in a tent, we did not feel safe to leave our computers in the tent due to heat and safety... so we took them with us. We were planning to be at the beach only for a couple of hours before going for dinner with some friends. As a Spaniard who has lived abroad for a long time, I just forgot for a moment how to do things to prevent these situations. It was also bad luck.
It looks like rental car have this type of robberies happen more often but I am sure that the wrong person saw us with the kids, taking things from the back of the car. Although they told me it is not that common in that area or in that specific street either.
We are trying to go through the feeling that brings something like that, but it is not easy. The children are also going through it in their own ways. My eldest (7) expresses it through anger and melt downs. But he has been able to talk about how he feels.
My youngest (5) got scared but seeing the police coming to help, helped him feel that there are people who care about what happened to us.
If this week you see me a bit lower than usual (I will try not to be affected by it during the classes and still be my best self) I just wanted you to know that it is because I am going through this and I am processing it.
We will come out of it for sure. It is just that we are now realizing about the financial hit, moving through the emotional feeling of violation and loss, and all the extra work and problems associated by it. As a good creative soul, I had no password to enter my computer because it annoys me to have to write it down a million times a day... well, lesson learned.
In the whole scheme of life, this is just a bad experience that no one should have to go through.
I will continue classes as usual.
Being with you makes my life better.
If you see you can send us some love or prayers, we will be happy to receive them.
Sending you love,
Laura Natura"
