Support Disabled American Veterans Today

Tax deductible
They served. They sacrificed. Let’s give back.

We are The Committed Team, and we’re proud to support Disabled American Veterans (DAV)—a nonprofit that empowers veterans injured in service to live with dignity, independence, and hope. DAV helps veterans access benefits, find jobs, and get to medical appointments—standing beside those who’ve already given so much.

As students who want to make a meaningful difference, we believe in amplifying voices that deserve to be heard. This campaign is our way of saying thank you – not just in words, but in action.

Here’s what your support can make possible:
A ride to a medical appointment that would otherwise be missed.
A trusted guide through a maze of paperwork.
A veteran feeling seen, supported, and remembered.

Many veterans face invisible battles long after their service ends. With your help, we can ease that burden. Every dollar raised will go toward DAV programs that directly impact lives—whether it’s transportation, benefit navigation, or simply knowing someone cares.

Our initial goal is $500 to support DAV’s mission, but with your help, we can surpass this goal and extend our support to even more veterans. Your donation, no matter the size, helps fund real support.

Every act of generosity—every dollar, every share— helps a veteran reclaim dignity, hope, and connection.

Share this campaign with your friends and family. Your donation makes an impact—and your voice multiplies it.

With gratitude,
The Committed Team

Thank you for standing with those who stood for us.

In a recent year, DAV-supported veterans received more than $30.4 billion in benefits through successful claims.

The Need: Disability Among Veterans in the U.S.

Disability is one of the most common and serious issues facing U.S. Veterans today. Veterans with service-connected disabilities face challenges with health, employment, transportation, and mental wellness.

Key Statistics:
  • As of 2023, there were 17.8 million veterans in the U.S.
  • About 5.2 million of them (~30%) reported having a service-connected disability
  • Among veterans aged 21-64, about 29.6% report having a disability
  • The employment rate for disabled veterans is lower
  • ~69% for those with only a service-connected disability
  • ~37% for those with general disabilities not rated by the VA
  • The U.S. Census Bureau reports that the percentage of veterans with service-connected disabilities doubled between 2008 and 2022 (~15% to ~30%).

Average compensation:
Veterans with a 91-100% disability rating receive on average $48,227 per year, but this doesn’t always cover full medical, adaptive, or transportation needs.

Focus for This Fundraiser:

Our GoFundMe campaign aims to support disabled veterans who need assistance beyond what VA compensation covers. The fund could help:
  • Transportation: Supporting veterans who need rides to VA hospitals or clinics.
  • Employment and Training: Helping veterans access job-readiness programs or adaptive equipment.
  • Mental Health & Peer Support: Supporting programs for PTSD, TBI, or peer mentoring.
  • Local DAV Chapter Aid: Providing direct support to a local Texas DAV chapter.

Why This Campaign Matters:

Many disabled veterans fall through the cracks of the VA system.
Civic engagement means filling gaps where institutional support isn’t enough.

Your donation will go toward real, urgent needs: helping veterans attend medical appointments, re-enter the workforce, or get the equipment/support they deserve.

Veteran Stories:

Daniel’s Road Back to Stability
“For months, I lived in my van. I didn’t know where to turn until DAV helped me find housing and get back on my feet.” — Daniel D., U.S. Army Veteran

After serving overseas, Daniel struggled with severe depression and job loss. His injuries and lack of transportation left him sleeping in his vehicle. Through support from the Disabled American Veterans, he received emergency housing assistance, job guidance, and emotional counseling.
Your donation ensures that veterans like Daniel never have to choose between shelter and survival again. (Source: dav.org)

Rose’s New Beginning
“I broke 11 bones and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes — I thought my career and purpose were over.” — Rose L., U.S. Army Veteran

After a devastating service-related injury, Rose was forced to leave the Army. With help from veterans’ programs and community support, she learned new skills, found employment, and regained independence.
Your support helps fund resources for disabled veterans like Rose who are rebuilding their lives after service-connected injuries. (Source: news.va.gov)

Michael’s Battle Beyond the Uniform
“It took me nearly 40 years to walk again — I had to relearn how to live.” — Michael D., U.S. Navy Veteran

Michael faced years of physical and emotional challenges after service. With rehabilitation, medical care, and consistent support from VA and DAV programs, he regained mobility and began mentoring other disabled veterans.

Dave’s Invisible Wounds
“I came home from Vietnam with flashbacks and three suicide attempts — thanks to help I finally began living again.” — Dave H., USAF Veteran

Dave served during the Vietnam War and returned to the U.S. carrying unseen wounds: PTSD, survivor’s guilt, nightmares, and isolation. For decades he struggled silently until a dedicated support program helped him access therapy and healing. (Source VA News)

Dawn’s Transition From Combat to Education
“I served in Iraq, came home restless and unable to sleep — therapy and education helped me rebuild.” — Dawn, US Army Veteran

After active combat duty in Iraq, Dawn returned to daily life only to find stress, hypervigilance, and difficulty connecting with family. She sought help, made a hard decision to go back to school, and is now moving toward a new purpose. (Source maketheconnection.net )

Your support enables programs that help veterans like Dawn access therapy, educational opportunities, and reintegration support.
