Dear Friends,
Many of you know Andy Paulson and Liz Lundholm. Our friends can really use our help as they support Andy’s son, Jayden Davis-Paulson, through a long and difficult recovery from a serious medical emergency.
Jayden, a healthy 21-year-old, was found February 29, 2024, lying unresponsive in the snow during his normal course of meter reading work. CPR was performed for 13 minutes before Emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
At Renown Hospital, Jayden underwent emergency heart surgery to have an Impella Device installed in his heart. This solution was temporary, meant to stabilize Jayden for transport to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where a more permanent solution could be performed. Due to the Tahoe blizzard, transport to San Francisco was delayed for three long days. The Reno medical team worked tirelessly to keep Jayden stabilized. At UCSF, he underwent another heart surgery and was connected to an ECMO machine used to pump and oxygenate blood. Additionally, he underwent kidney dialysis and continues to receive ongoing care.
Although the full impact of the oxygen loss on his brain remains unknown, Jayden has shown some incredible progress. He can now speak and move his arms, though he still lacks control of his legs. His heart remains under close monitoring in the ICU.
The Paulson family is currently renting an Airbnb in San Francisco to be near Jayden during his treatment. As you can imagine, this temporary relocation is expensive. Andy has been unable to work so that he can be present for Jayden every step of the way. To make things even more challenging, Liz and Andy have a newborn son to care for.
All involved feel incredibly fortunate that Jayden is alive and continues to improve. Andy and Liz are grateful for the medical team's efforts and support, as well as the strength and optimism from friends and family that have carried them this far. They continue to put their faith in God and feel His grace with every breath Jayden takes.
Be assured that the bulk of any money raised will be used for Jayden’s medical bills. Any assistance you can give is so appreciated. If anyone has connections to affordable housing near UCSF-Parnassus, that would also be valuable. Of course, sharing this page to your network will help as well.
