RV - For Emergency Housing, For Work, & For UGC Adventures

Donation protected
UPDATE: I am currently staying with family until June 6th. The fundraiser has stalled out, but I hold myself accountable for not updating publicly since the end of April.

I am still holding out hope the GoFundMe will get some traction. I've been working hard to right side up. I am being told to apply for social services, and I'm looking into this now. I am also hoping that I can still find remote work. I would rather work hard then sign up, but I may have to at this point.

I've also thought of signing up elsewhere and making it a loan? Is the "get" what's missing? The world has changed so much since the pandemic. Maybe it was always like this, I don't know. Maybe if folks were getting something back, they would help out more?

... I just don't know.

I know it would be amazing to get an RV. I've reached out to brands with no reply. It would be such a boost to win this, to have a "square" to live and work out of, to travel, and to feel/hear the hum of the road...

And who doesn't love a meal made on the grill?

I want to go camping forever and then help others pull their lives together too.

I don't know if this is a normal or proper update, but it's mine, and it's real and all I can be is myself)

Hi, I'm Ross Aka "Woodstock Ross" on Social Media and I have 9 days (04/27/2024) to find new housing and get an RV to keep from becoming homeless.

THE PLAN (THE GOOD PART):
I plan on making UGC on Tiktok while working remotely as I find alternative ways to work while being on the road full time. I build a new series based on this to help others in the same or similar situation that I'm in.

The plan is to drive from New York State to Alaska, Denali National Park if possible, in the next 3-4 months. I will be meeting folks I've got to know through Tiktok and other Social Media platforms along the way. I will be highlighting campgrounds, hotels, even rest stops that are reliable and wonderful.

And I will be working on my personal issues that may also affect my followers and friends: debt and credit to debt ratio, personal issues like PTSD and PDA, and discussing ADHD and Autism. Lastly, I will be addressing an issue I've had on and off since losing my first home, which is homelessness and being houseless.

I expect to promote charities and organizations who are taking an active role in fixing the housing crisis, food insecurity, and helping people get back on their feet. I would love to showcase businesses that hire folks who need help after falling down. I don't know if I can do all of this, but I'm going to do my best to rise up to the occasion. And I'm going to do it with the RV that I'm raising funds for.

I have a small window to do this in. I have been attempting to pitch the project to companies that make RVs, but there has been ZERO replies. I may extend the time needed if I can find places to stay but my goal is 9 days or by the beginning in June, and chase the cooler temps North and then west.

I'm attempting to fix my housing issue, continue working online, and give myself the leeway I need to find and explore new ways to work through sll sorts of job apps while traveling. It's difficult but 100% possible with YOUR help. And I will take you along on with me on my journey thru my social media posts and updates.

THE HISTORY OF WHY I SET UP THIS GOFUNDME:
I'm about to be homeless in 9 days and I have spent the last two months trying to find a situation to move into in NYS. All the rents went up here during and after the pandemic, as many folks with high paying jobs moved from New York City to New York State. The apartments that used to go for $800/mo are now priced at $1600 before utilities and internet are included.

A year ago I had lucked out and found a space but my car, which I was using for work at the time, broke down a few months after I moved in. It was unrepairable and required more work than the value of the car. I found work online, but I was green washed out of 2 separate positions. I have PTSD and a learning disability, but the companies would not help with my basic requests for accommodations. The third job I found, wound up being seasonal to full-time, but the company decided to let all of their seasonal hires go right before Christmas. I was shaken.

During the holidays last year, I started to make User Generated Content (UGC) on Tiktok. I previously ran grow rooms and tried a couple other things on TikTok. I originally signed up after being pressured to by a friend. I've found that making personal updates and holding space for others while live and making UGC Content Creation is my niche! But I've also been longing for adventure. The end of last year was good to me and I see the potential for this type of work. Changes in TikTok's Algorithm and a slow Q1 was the final blow to the cottage life for me.

I just couldn't find regular work and I couldn't get to anything local without a car!

I wound up not being able to afford my lovely cottage, and as the rent went up I couldn't find work outside on my work on TikTok. I wound up losing the space. It is still breaking my heart and I need to move past this and get a hold of a vehicle.

(That being said, I understand why things happened the way they did. I have stayed covid safe for a long time due to health issues and my Landlady has been understanding and very gracious about everything. I just couldn't afford paradise.)

WHY I CHOSE 65k:
I have watched friends who bought their rig privately go through a lot of problems with them. Based on my research, I believe I can find a couple different options at this price range which might also be warrantied. This amount would also help to cover the costs of travel to pick up the RV, warranty, registration, insurance, and gas. Ideally, 75k would probably be a better number. But at this amount it could be an RV or a trailer/truck set up if necessary. I would prefer an RV in working condition with no leaks or other wear and tear issues. So 65k seems like a safe amount to find something that will last for a while.

I will be getting something. Depending on what I can raise, that will determine what kind of vehicle I can get. The money will be used toward the goal. If there's anything additional I will use it on the gas, food, propane, campgrounds, Starlink for internet (Going LIVE as I said that "You are coming with me on this adventure!," work and uploading UGC and personal content, meeting with donators via Zoom, etc.)

I BELIEVE this will give me the best opportunity for me to get back on me feet. I will be able to help others along the way, and share the lessons learned as I go.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER ALASKA???
I don't know, the adventure goes somewhere else I hope!
