On Saturday August 7th, 13-year-old Charlie was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She along side her dad, Chris and her mom, Becky, were immediately transferred to Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon where Charlie has since started chemotherapy. This form of cancer will require years of treatment for this amazing child whom we all adore. Although Charlie’s prognosis is optimistic, there is still a difficult journey ahead for her and the family.
Charlie is a strong, beautiful and brave girl who recently completed grade 7 at MUCC in Melfort. She is a loving sister to her three siblings and such a dear friend to many. ‘Chuckles’ is a complete joy to be around and one of the most empathetic kids you’ll ever meet.
Charlie will remain in Saskatoon for the next few weeks while undergoing her first rounds of treatment. After that she will have to make the two hour (one way) travel to Saskatoon once a week to continue.
The funds gathered through this fundraiser will be used to alleviate some of the financial burden related to medical expenses and out of town travel for Charlie and her family. Funds will also be used to purchase a custom made wig using Charlie’s own hair. It is our hope that with this fundraiser we can provide some comfort for the family around finances so they can focus on the most important thing, Charlie healing.
