Ruth’s Pageant Journey for American Veterans

Hello, my name is Ruth Wayrynen, and I reside in Fernley, Nevada with my husband Richard Wayrynen. I am the title holder for Mrs. Reno America 2024. I will be competing for the Crown for Mrs. Nevada America 2024 in Las Vegas on June 9, 2024. I chose this journey for married women to open the doors to truly make a difference in society. As those who have known me already know that I have had pageant experience from decades ago. I also have a lineage of pageant queens in my family. This experience has given me many modeling and acting opportunities in the Chicago area that I’m proud of. I chose to do this now to pursue my ambitions and awareness needs for my platform: “A Home for Veterans” to make global places like Veterans Guest House” in Reno NV, to be built in all Nevada and America.

However, to be part of the pageant experience includes expenses for sponsorship ad sales, and fees. There is an inexplicable sense of pride and honor that comes with being chosen as Mrs. Reno, but also an opportunity to represent my beautiful state for Mrs. America. By giving me this oath to follow, I’m confident I can inspire others today to follow their ambitions and dreams.

I stayed at the “Veterans Guest House” in Reno last year as the wife of a retired 26yr veteran. My husband had surgery and I was able to lodge for days across the street from the VA Hospital, spending more time by his bedside, then traveling far from home. The Guest House staff is amazing, the decor is warm and inviting. The Guest House has no government funding and The Guest House relies on donations for Veterans from all over the USA. It is a safe, clean, and loving place to stay for our veterans and their families when they have a medical issues in their lives.

As my passion for fundraising, and volunteering will continue after the pageant.
