I'm Ruth Evans
I've been living as a quadriplegic since age 18
as a result of a motor vehicle accident I've lived through several car accidents, numerous broken bones, several serious illnesses and hospitalizations more serious with Staph pneumonia into 2016 and on a ventilator in CCU more days then you're supposed to and by some grace of God and the help of the sport of many good friends and family I made it through and continue to gain health and strength back since then i've had many triumphs over the years went to graduate school and earned a masters degree ,found it a local nonprofit to help others with disabilities find their way served on several disability boards and committees ,was honored to be Miss Wheelchair Iowa some years back .I have the privilege of knowing my son and his family who I didn't have any knowledge about for many sad years. I've been blessed with people coming in my path who have helped me with health obstacles. Helped me live with chronic pain and in touch treated and help me through alternative medicines . I've lived independently in my home for many years and until this year when Medicaid changed . My post quadriplegia needs have slowly increased my need for more care I find myself feeling for financial help so that I can continue on my journey in a way that I can still be contribution to the community . I'm allowed through a new program for persons with severe disabilities called IABLE to receive money from donations friends and family to raise without losing current benefits to assist me with my increased need the money will be used for personal care assistant technology equipment home modification or
medical equiptment .
