Grandma Wall's Stitchery
Quilters are the world's piece makers.

Yes, you guessed it; we are country and we love quilts. I, Cyndy McNaul-Nelson, design and piece the quilts together. Ruth Laverman layers, backs, and machine quilts them. After years of hand quilting, a skill taught to us by women from a distant era, I said to Ruth, "Hey, isn't it time we upgrade to machine quilting?"
And here we are, needing an upgrade to a modern machine before time passes (us) by, too fast. We stand before you presenting our project, our dream. Your donations will help us purchase a modern Statler Stitcher; and additionally, place a warm Northern quilt on your cozy bed by the holidays.
The money is for:
>$44,345-Gammil; Statler Stitcher computerized quilting system. See the above picture of the machine.
>$3300-(2) drafting chairs, fabric cutting table (to replace my hundred-year-old table, literally), fabric storage shelving, fabric, batting, and thread.
Ruth and I have been friends since sixth-grade. My father, at the age of 29, had to quit farming due to multiple heart attacks; auctioned off his machinery and livestock and moved us to Malcom, Iowa (The first house we had with indoor bathrooms). Ruth walked me home on my first day at a new school and has called me friend ever since. (At age 16, we painted her car pink and drove it around like a "pink Cadillac".)
I am the eldest of eight siblings and Ruth is mid-way of seven. Our life backgrounds? For Ruth, it was seasonal farm work, customer food service, 20 years editing multiple-state phone books, and raising a beautiful family; my life surrounded around farm work, nursing/medical field, writing/editing, factories, customer food service, and working with at-risk children.
We offer a Northern Arctic Winter theme quilt for donors (quilts will be similar to the above picture; no one quilt the same); check out the reward levels for descriptions. Machined quilts should arrive by the 2015 holidays (depends on timing of donation), and tied quilts by Fall 2015 (depends on timing of donation).
We also offer tea samplers of Cyndy’s herbal teas made from her food processing plant-licensed kitchen to each donor as a thank you. Please leave us your name and address for your rewards.
Updates coming in two weeks with more pictures of Ruth and I; we do not have pics of ourselves. It is one of those things; we are always behind the cameras. And we are scheduling a video shoot for this project in about three months and designing brochures of quilts we have available and offer.
Should you choose to accept this mission, it would sure warm our hearts. (We raise a cup of tea to you.)
-our many heart felt thanks
