Sometimes rescue work breaks your heart… and sometimes it reminds you exactly why you keep going.

Right now, a local solano county rescue is facing something no rescue ever wants to face:

22 cats. No time. Nowhere to go.

The caretaker of these cats hit a devastating crisis and must leave the property immediately, leaving all of these innocent lives in danger through no fault of their own.

And in the middle of this chaos… is Rusty.

Rusty is the kind of cat who would slip through the cracks if someone didn’t step in. A special-needs boy who has never seen the world blind since birth trying to survive while living in constant pain from eyes that desperately need surgery.

When we were asked if we could help him, we didn’t hesitate for even a second.

Special-needs cats are my heart. They always will be.

Rusty is estimated to be 3–4 years old, and he has endured his entire life unable to see — but worse, hurting. Eyes like his create daily pressure, discomfort, and sensitivity. Imagine navigating a world you can’t see… while everything hurts. Every day.

He may also need a dental, another layer of care he has waited far too long for.

We said yes to Rusty because he needed someone. Because no one else could take him on in the middle of this emergency.

But here’s the truth we rarely say out loud:

We are completely drained.

Financially. Emotionally.

Every last penny has gone into caring for the babies already depending on us.

And now Rusty needs a surgery that costs hundreds of dollars something we cannot do alone, no matter how much we wish we could.

But together? Together we can change everything for him.

Rusty deserves to live without pain.

He deserves comfort.

He deserves rescue.

He deserves a community that won’t turn away just because he’s special-needs.
