Rusty and Megan Haas
Donation protected
On Monday, October 28, Rusty suffered a major hypertensive stroke on the left side of his brain. He underwent brain surgery in the early mornings of Tuesday, October 29. 40% of his skull had to be removed in order to alleviate the swelling of the brain. Since then, Rusty has been sedated and breathing with the help of a ventilator. The amazing doctors and nurses are working diligently to keep his vitals stable and give his body the rest it needs to heal.
He was given an MRI, which showed he has no damage to his brain stem which is extremely positive news! Rusty has been able to move the left side of his body, and the right side has seen very limited movement. We are hopeful that he will wake soon and make a full recovery, but it's going to be a very long and difficult road.
On top of all of this, Rusty's wife Megan is pregnant with their second child. The family has come together to offer all the support we can over the past week, and we will continue to be there in whatever way we can. However, the next few months will be filled with a lot of financial needs that will need to be met. Between helping Megan with the daily expenses of running a household, taking care of Lewis, and remaining a source of support once baby Elliana is born, there is the cost of all the medical help Rusty has incurred, and will continue to incur as he gets out of the ICU and on to extensive rehab.
The amount of love, support, and prayers from friends and family the past week has been amazing. We've had so many people reach out to ask what they can do to help. If you are able to donate anything, no matter the amount, to help Megan and Rusty get through this difficult time we would greatly appreciate it. Rusty is young, strong, and has so much to fight for. We trust that God has Rusty and Megan in his hands, and we all will continue to lean on Him for support.
Thanks so much everyone!!
