Ruston/Coles Family Fire Recovery

This page has been set up by Esther Clark, Carolyn Ruston, and Sarah Ruston. We are the daughters of Alvin Ruston. Our father lost his home this morning. Everything he and our stepmother owned is gone. Consumed by fire. Fortunately for the smoke detectors that went off at 4:00 AM my dad, stepmom Deborah Doud Ruston, step-niece Rebecca Coles and her 3-year old son Ethan were able to make it out of the house with just the clothes on their backs. They didn't even have a chance to get their shoes; and where they live (Northeast corner of Oregon) the average tempertature has been 2 degrees! Our father is on permanent disability (after breaking his back twice) and has health issues, and our stepmother has also had some health scares, so money was already tight. With money being tight, they did not have insurance, so everything is completely lost and they need help getting back on their feet. Anything that you can spare is greatly appreciated. My dad and Deb are good people, and we always wonder why bad things happen to good people. We can't replace the things that were lost, but we can shower them with the most valuable possession we have and that is our ability to give love and compassion, especially to those that are in need.
