Rust2Dakar - Charity Rally in Africa

Ciao a tutti,

io e mio cugino Paolo siamo felici di annunciarvi che la nostra candidatura per partecipare all'edizione 2024\25 della "Rust2Dakar" è stata accettata.

Si tratta di un rally non competitivo a scopo benefico ispirato alle prime edizioni della Paris-Dakar di Thierry Sabine, senza assistenza meccanica e medica, e senza pianificazione delle sistemazioni da parte dell’organizzazione tra un checkpoint e l’altro. Ogni team, lungo il percorso si gestirà in autonomia con sfide dietro ogni angolo. Non parliamo quindi di una gara di velocità, bensì di un’avventura tutta africana che ci permetterà di donare all’ONG organizzatrice i mezzi utilizzati durante il rally e di portare aiuti umanitari.

Il viaggio

Il 26 Dicembre guideremo il nostro veicolo (*ancora da reperire* es. auto\furgone\ambulanza) fino al porto di Genova dove ci imbarcheremo insieme ad altri 25 team su un traghetto, che in circa

53 ore ci porterà a Tangeri. Da lì inizierà la nostra avventura di quasi 5.000 Chilometri: percorreremo la vastità del Sahara attraverso tutto il Marocco lungo lo storico percorso della Parigi Dakar, le montagne e i Canyon della Mauritania, la foresta tropicale delle zone rurali del Senegal e del Gambia fino ad approdare in uno dei paesi più poveri del globo: la Guinea-Bissau.

Li doneremo il nostro mezzo e ogni altro fondo raccolto all'associazione umanitaria “Tavolo 8” per finanziare progetti come questi:

Taxi Rose - Creazione cooperativa Taxi femminile. Grazie alle vetture che doneremo le donne maltrattate di Ziguinchor (Senegal) troveranno la loro libertà grazie al lavoro.

Garage Ze - Officina e progetto di formazione per ragazzi dai 16-30 anni a Cahecu (Guinea Bissau).

Casamango - Progetto di empowerment femminile. Costruzione laboratorio di essiccazione mango e altra frutta tropicale.

La capanna di Franco - Piccolo ma importantissimo presidio ospedaliero di maternità,

costruito nel 2012 da Tavolo 8 nel villaggio di Essoukoudiak, in Guinea Bissau,nella foresta.

Vuoi darci una mano ad arrivare a destinazione?

Purtroppo, le spese per affrontare questo lungo e folle viaggio saranno tante e totalmente a carico del nostro team,ovvero noi due.

Infatti, oltre alla donazione che faremo all’associazione tavolo 8, valida come quota di iscrizione all’evento dovremo anche:

reperire un veicolo e metterlo in condizione di affrontare 5mila chilometri in Africa, acquistare biglietti per la nave che ci porterà in Marocco\ aereo per tornare a casa, visti,dogane,assicurazioni,vitto e alloggio,carburante ecc ecc.

Per questo abbiamo deciso di aprire una raccolta fondi per sostenere questo progetto ed aiutarci ad arrivare a destinazione :

Entra con noi nel Team e l'unione farà la forza. Ovviamente ogni importo, piccolo o grande che sia, sarà super apprezzato, ma per chi sarà particolarmente generoso pensiamo sia giusto ricambiare il gesto:

Se invece hai un’azienda e ti piacerebbe farci da sponsor, ricorda che la somma che verserai per partecipare è detraibile dalle tasse essendo beneficenza.

A breve sveleremo il nome del team ed apriremo le varie pagine social dove posteremo aggiornamenti sulla ricerca e la preparazione del veicolo, ecc ecc.

Hello everyone,

my cousin Paolo and I are happy to announce that our application to participate in the 2024\25 edition of "Rust2Dakar" has been accepted.

This is a non-competitive charity rally inspired by the first editions of Thierry Sabine's Paris-Dakar, with no mechanical or medical assistance, and no accommodation planning by the organization between checkpoints. Each team, along the route will manage itself with challenges around every corner. So we are not talking about a speed race, but an all-African adventure that will allow us to donate to the organizing NGO the vehicles used during the rally and to bring humanitarian aid.

The journey

On December 26 we will drive our vehicle (*still to be found* e.g., car\van\ambulance) to the port of Genoa where we will embark with 25 other teams on a ferry, which will take us to Tangier in about 53 hours. From there our nearly 5,000-kilometer adventure will begin: we will travel the vastness of the Sahara through all of Morocco along the historic Paris Dakar route, the mountains and Canyons of Mauritania, the tropical rainforest of rural Senegal and Gambia until we land in one of the poorest countries on the globe: Guinea-Bissau.

There we will donate our vehicle and any other funds raised to the humanitarian association "Table 8" to fund projects like these:

Taxi Rose - Women's Taxi Cooperative Creation. Thanks to the cars we will donate, battered women in Ziguinchor (Senegal) will find their freedom through work.Garage Ze - Workshop and training project for 16-30 year olds in Cahecu (Guinea Bissau).

Casamango - Women's empowerment project. Construction workshop for drying mangoes and other tropical fruits.

Do you want to help us get to our destination?

Unfortunately, the expenses to face this long and crazy journey will be many and totally borne by our team,that is, the two of us.

In fact, in addition to the donation we will make to the Table 8 Association, valid as a registration fee for the event we will also have to:

find a vehicle and put it in condition to face 5 thousand kilometers in Africa, buy tickets for the ship that will take us to Morocco\plane back home, visas,customs,insurance,food and lodging,fuel etc etc.

That is why we decided to open a fundraiser to support this project and help us get to our destination :

Join us on the Team and unity will make strength. Obviously any amount, large or small, will be super appreciated, but for those who will be particularly generous we think it is only fair to reciprocate the gesture:

With a minimum donation of 20€ : we will apply on the bodywork a sticker with your first and last name, and next to it the flag of your home country.

With a minimum donation of 40€: t-shirt with the Team's name and logo.

If, on the other hand, you have a business and would like to sponsor us, remember that the amount you pay to participate is tax deductible as it is charity.

We will soon unveil the team name and open the various social pages where we will post updates on research and vehicle preparation, etc. etc.
