Russell Thomashow Memorial Fund

On October 6th, 2023 our beloved Russell passed away at 27 of an accidental drug overdose.

Russell was one of the most amazing, beautiful souls we have ever known. Those who knew him all have spoken about his exceptional ability to love and his overwhelming compassion for others. He truly was one of the most empathetic people to walk this earth, always going out of the way to make others feel better far before himself.

As we remember Russell, we feel compelled to do our best to honor him with a charitable donation. However at this time, we do not have the energy or capability to determine the best charity to receive our time and funds. We ask that you consider making a donation to this GoFundMe as a temporary alternative to donating directly to a charity.

We are looking for organizations that incorporate one of Russell's passions while also supporting those in need of love and care that are struggling with drug addiction and mental illness. We understand both are diseases that are difficult to understand and treat and want to honor Russell by trying to make a difference even in just one person's life.

Some of Russell's passions:

Music - Russell had an amazing ear for music. He could walk up to any guitar or piano and play a theme song he had never played before. No one knows where this talent came from, his family is mostly musically deficient.

Film - Russell was passionate about movies. He once filmed an amateur film with his friends just for fun. It was overwhelmingly artsy and impressive. He was always watching new films and pondering a career in the industry.

Comedy - Russell's laugh was infectious and he was full of laughter. He frequented comedy shows with friends and family.

Wrestling - Russell was equally impressively scrawny and ferocious growing up. You won't meet anyone more fearless and more capable of surprising an opponent despite barely weighing more than a wet towel.

We intend to have a charity fully vetted by the end of the year. All who donate will receive a notice and thank you of the recipient of your graciousness. 100% of proceeds will go to charity. $0 will go to anything else.
