Russell Recovery Hurricane Dorian Relief

Many friends and colleagues have reached out to our US family and asked how they can assist our Bahamian family members (brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins) who were affected by Hurricane Dorian. Hurricane Dorian, the strongest hurricane on record to hit the the Bahamas, caused unprecedented destruction to the islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama!! To this end, we decided to establish a gofundme campaign to enable you to help as you are able to. As our Bahamian family members mourn the lives lost and homes and communities that have been destroyed, they and many on the islands are struggling to meet basis needs. Their lives have been forever changed and it will be a long, long road to  rebuild!  Some of our family have been displaced from their homes which were destroyed by winds, the homes of others flooded by ceiling high water and others lost partial roofs. However, our immediate concern is for their basic needs! They are in desperate need of  household appliances, mattresses, towels, toiletries, cleaning supplies, basic furniture and non perishable food! We are appealing to our friends and families who are more fortunate to assist in this effort in any way they can! Gofundme campaigns are not supported in the Bahamas at this time. Hence, all funds raised will be withdrawn by and in the name of Jennifer Lusa, the organizer, in the US. The funds will then be transferred via bank transfer to Joseph Russell, the designated family coordinator in Freeport Bahamas. The coordinator will oversee the purchasing of perishable food, cleaning supplies, and toiletries. If there is sufficient funds, towels and bed linen will also be purchased. Items purchased will be given directly to family members by coordinator, in accordance with their needs. The organizers of this fundraisers are Jennifer and Vanessa Lusa of Willington CT.
