Russell Eric Overly, 38, of Lubbock, walked in to the loving arms of the Lord on August 6, 2020. He was born on July 28, 1982 in Humble, Texas, the son of Phil and Robna Overly. Russell was always willing to lend a helping hand and never passed up the opportunity to bring joy to others. Russell was a kind person who anyone would be proud to call son, brother, uncle and friend.

Russell is preceded in death by his mother, Robna Overly, his maternal grandparents, Tommy and Othela Gentry, and his paternal grandparents, Gene and Nell Overly.

Russell is survived by his father, Phil Overly, his sister and brother-in-law, Leslie and Clint Sherman, his sister and brother-in-law Julie and Joel Hernandez, his niece Lexi Robinson and her husband Matthew Robinson, his nieces Graci Sherman, Roxi Sherman and nephew Blake Sherman, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at the home of Gerald and Becky Hudson , 14912 FM 1730, on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 6-8 PM.

Honorary pallbearers: Blake Sherman, Steven Hudson, Mark Hudson, Thomas Overly, Justin O’Neal, Clint Sherman, Joel Hernandez , Eric Gentry and Thomas Gentry.

In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been created to help with medical bills and funeral expenses.
