I’ve shared many years of laughter, teamwork, and mutual respect with Matt Gallagher in our professional lives, so when he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in October 2023, I felt compelled to act. Despite the news, Matt’s first instinct was not despair, it was to help others. Driven by his fierce optimism and deep sense of community, he founded the Matt Gallagher Foundation to support people living with MND across the Midlands

Why This Foundation Means So Much to Me

Through our years working together, I’ve seen Matt’s integrity and kindness in action. It was no surprise when he channeled his own health crisis into an initiative that brings immediate, practical support to families coping with MND. The Foundation's mission isn’t about distant cures; it’s about making a difference today, helping individuals with mobility aids, stairlift installations, accessible adaptations, even granting “dream holidays” to create precious family memories.

One particularly compelling fact: the West Midlands, one of the UK’s largest health regions, has just three specialist MND nurses. The Foundation is determined to change that by fundraising to provide permanent specialist nursing support where it’s urgently needed most.
