Rupert Mountain Theater Festival 2021

My name is Van Barton and I am the head of the Antone Acting Troupe in Rupert Vermont. After moving home from NYC I had the idea to bring my passion to my very own hometown. The first annual Rupert Mountain Theater Festival (RMTF) had  originally transcended from the idea to put on a small performance in a backyard to what most of you all came to witness, a community event on the Rupert Town Green (an incredibly perfect space for a festival). This was all planned within one month. I reached out and recruited, built a stage, performed myself and successfully put on a lovely night. Each and every actor and audience member played  a massive role in the success of this event.  I have always been a dreamer. I truly believe that what we have started here will turn into something larger and more rewarding than it already was; for the town,  you all and even the state. This year was a testing ground.

So... I have initiated a fundraiser to see if we can raise some money for next years event. I would like to see it grow. My aspirations include the hope that this will become a novelty where both community involvement and professional productions take place. We can have tents and vendors for local businesses, musical performances during the day and night, community night where people can take the stage and read poetry and perform (much like this year), and nights where wildly fulfilled productions and plays take place. There will be multiple stages. One smaller stage which hosts our community night and a larger stage which maintains ground for full length, professional plays. I would like to see the festival morph to at least 3 days and 4 nights . Something along the lines of Solar Festival meets Williamstown Theater Festival.

Each and every year this will become something that we all look forward to. Something for our future children to look upon and grow from. Something wonderful for the community. I want to bring some more diversity to Rupert. There is no better place. I grew up blue collar and I want this event to take place is a blue collar small town.

Now that I have a full year to plan this (little longer than a month) the possibilities are indeed endless. I envision great things for next year.

The money raised will go towards the following:

-Marketing (Includes posters, signs, general advertisement)
-Liability Insurance
-Stage material (wood, proper tools, lighting, etc.)
-Food cost etc for Sheldon store?
-Generator for stage which extension cords cannot reach.
-Pay for directors, actors,  stage managers and lighting crew of professional productions.
-Possible pay for bands.

Money that is not used will go towards the following years events.

I want to start something great for this town. I am glad to be home.

My veneration to you all,
