Jinja, Uganda - August Mission Trip

Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,

We are excited to share that we have decided to travel to Jinja, Uganda for 14 days in August 2015 for a medical mission trip. We will both be graduating from Grand Valley State University in December 2015 and we desire to serve God before we head off to graduate school.

We will do ministry in a variety of ways in Uganda. We will be working alongside Sole Hope , an organization in Jinja founded by a couple from the United States. The purpose of Sole Hope is to effectively put in place preventive methods to combat diseases that enter through the feet and to create a positive physical and spiritual difference in the lives of individuals in impoverished communities. Jiggers are tiny sand fleas that burrow under the skin and can cause infection. They affect mostly children and elderly adults. Jiggers are a common problem in Uganda where shoes are unavailable to most. They are also very painful! Sole Hope provides weekly jigger removal clinics for villages in Uganda where they teach good hygiene and provide shoes for those in need. During our time we will be helping with these clinics and spreading God’s love every chance we get. We will also be spending our time at Ekisa Ministries , which is a home for 23 children living with disabilities, and Sonrise Ministries , which currently provides care for up to 58 orphaned and vulnerable children.

We would love for you to be a part of this ministry in two ways. First and foremost, you can begin praying as we prepare to go. The second way you can be part is by giving financially. If you feel led to give it would be a great blessing to us. The cost of the entire trip is $2500 per person; this cost is due to immunizations and travel expenses. No gift is too small, and all are greatly appreciated.

We are so excited about this opportunity to serve and we look forward to sharing with you how you were a partner in the ministry in Uganda. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
