Meningitis Awareness
Donation protected
Meningitis and septicaemia kill around 1,000 people around the world every day.
Babies and children under five and young people are especially vulnerable but anyone of any age can be affected.
Globally, up to 5% of all deaths of children aged under five are caused by meningitis and septicaemia, while a third of survivors have long term disabilities, like amputation, brain damage and deafness.
My healthy, happy, active 2 year old nephew Patrick was struck by bacterial menigitis. If it wasn't for the quick actions of my sister Gemma, my brother in law Chris , the staff at his local Hopsital and specialist unit staff at Evalina London Children's Hospital, he wouldn't be here, period.
Too often, due to common symptoms, Menigitis and septicaemia go unnoticed until it's too late.
Join me in raising funds for The Meningitis Research Foundation and help raise awareness of menigitis and septicaemia, diseases that can kill and disable in literally, hours.
This amazing foundation is not only raising awareness, but funding research into the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia whilst sharing the knowledge gained by research so everyone can benefit.
They support those affected by meningitis and septicaemia and are building on their track record of significant support for research outside of the UK while developing new models to tackle the diseases globally.
For those who know me, you know I am not a runner. Nope. A light jog at best. Only when the sun's out. I've signed up to run the Blackmores Half Marathon on Sept 18 and I will endeavour to run all 21km for this cause. Gasping already.
All funds raised will be donated to The Meningitis Research Foundation. The Pain and discomfort I will feel during, and probably for weeks after, is nothing, absolutely nothing, compared to what we're dealing with here.
Please dig deep, every little counts, and SPONSOR ME :)
Huge, huge thanks
Much love
