Running for Erin's Cash for Chemo!
Donation protected
As many of you know, I spent my summers at Camp Harlam. I met Erin when I was but a wee lass at Harlam. I'm pretty sure she laughed at my jokes, and I basically call anyone a friend that does that.
I've watched Erin's story unfold over the past few years, and I can say with all honesty: she is one of the most amazing people I've ever known. On top of battling Stage IV cancer multiple times, she has pursued a graduate degree and moved across the country. (Meanwhile, I moved 7 miles this summer and complained incessantly). Erin has lived her life with humor, grace and gusto. All while sharing her story with others so that they can understand what it’s like to be living every day with metastatic cancer. To say I admire her would be an understatement.
I know that Erin likes to run, and that she can’t always get out there and do that. I tolerate running, mostly because I have an awesome group of friends that I get to spend time with while doing so. But, I need a little motivation to get out there and do the miles while I train for my second marathon.
I’m joining Erin in her quest to raise money for metastatic cancer research. I’m inviting you, my nearest and dearest, and random people I’m “friends with on the internets,” to donate to my pool of money. Once I finish the marathon (and don’t die in the process), I will donate to metavivor.org in Erin’s honor. The odd amount I’m hoping to reach is to cover the fees that will be taken because of the online fundraising portal I’m using.
Please consider helping me fund research – something I’m keenly interested in pursuing every day. And to fund research for folks that don’t often get research dollars dedicated to them. But, who live with cancer every day. Just like my friend Erin.
