Running the Worcester Half Marathon for Children Not Numbers

My name is Shyma and I am raising money for Children Not Numbers. Children Not Numbers is a small but important charity who are helping with medical evacuation and providing healthcare needs for the children of Gaza.

As a mother of two children aged 5 and 9 years I am horrified at witnessing some of the worst atrocities committed against children in history.

According to the UN, Israeli airstrikes killed more children in four months of the current violence than were killed in all conflicts around the world in the previous four years.

According to UNRWA Israeli airstrikes have killed almost 16 000 children, injured around 34,000 while some while some 21,000 are missing and 17,000 have been orphaned

Children Not Numbers have members of their team on the ground to help these children.

They have the following objectives:

1) Immediate short term medical evacuation of children who have urgent and complex healthcare needs to host states.

2) Medical aid delivery

3) Sustainable rehabilitation support

4) Advocacy for children's rights

5) Educational program implementation

6) Upskill junior medical professionals on the ground

I am going to be part of at least 4900 runners taking part in the Worcester 10k and half marathon on the 15th of September. I hope to raise awareness about the plight of children in Gaza and the charity “Children Not Numbers” by wearing a T-shirt with their logo while running the half marathon.
