I met John in October 2023 when he came in as a patient deciding if to go ahead with a below knee amputation after a devastating motorbike accident left him severe injuries. At that time he was struggling with daily pain and was not able to walk far without crutches. We as a team, supplied him with an offloading brace as an alternative to an amputation and with a lot of rehabilitation and amazing determination from John, he has made a remarkable recovery.

He has now decided to take on a huge challenge of completing the Plymouth half marathon in aid of Day one Trauma as well as working as a peer supporter. The charity started in Leeds General Infirmary and helps people who have had a traumatic injury with early support, helping with grant funding, support with benefits and welfare, peer support, counselling and helping with legal support.

I am running in support of John and raising money for this very worthwhile charity.
