Running the 2020 Napa Valley Marathon

After running the New York Marathon last November I had planned to be running the Tokyo Marathon on 1st March 2020 as my 5th marathon, in my ambition to run 5 in 5 years.  However, because of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus, the Tokyo event is cancelled for general participation.  Having trained for 10 weeks, running over 450 miles and counting, I still need to run my 5th marathon...so I have pivoted to another event and I have just entered the 2020 Napa Valley Marathon.  It’s not Tokyo for sure, but this Napa marathon also takes place on 1st March.  In 2019 it was the 65th largest in the US, and it’s a Boston qualifier.   

In my previous marathons I ran for a charity which helps disabled children participate in sport, and many of you have been extremely generous donating to that great cause.  Because of the tragedy the Coronavirus is creating for people affected by it, I have decided to run this marathon to raise donations for the Red Cross which is supporting the efforts of their Chinese and other partner agencies working in those communities and countries which are impacted by the outbreak. 

I respect that many people have preferred charities and budgets for giving, but if you have anything spare and available for donating to this good cause then I would be very grateful for that, as I try to raise money while running the Napa Valley Marathon.  (If you do donate please leave your details so I can thank you.)
 
I’ll do my best for you on 1st March and I hope that with your support, together we are able to make a contribution to the Red Cross so that it can help those in need as they battle against the Coronavirus.
