Running Pear (Dave’s London Marathon)

For those of you that know me, know that I’m not really the running type. Let’s face it my legs aren’t really long enough, and my beer belly obstructs the motion of the stride. But all this is changing.
Just over 12 months ago (late Nov 23) we found out that my Step Dad Dave was very ill and was later diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Now if you’re diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, it’s just really a question of time. Unfortunately for Dave the cancer was so advanced even treatment wasn’t possible.

By the middle of January, the consultant initially said he had 3 months maybe. The whole family was at a loss with the news and didn’t know what to do. All as we could do, is watch the head of the family, a gentle giant of a man deteriorate in front of us, until his fight ended on the 11th May.

A couple of weeks earlier I’d taken Dave to Leighton Hospital in some distress and discomfort and at was at this point as he lay helpless on the bed I decided I need to do something, I knew I couldn’t help him. However perhaps if I could help someone else in the future, all was not lost, to raise money in Dave’s name for Pancreatic Cancer Uk. After listening to Chris Evan’s that morning about running a marathon, my mind was made up. I entered the London Marathon without a 2nd thought. What have I done!! I’ve told Pancreatic Cancer UK, I’ll raise them £10,000!! Now it’s over to you guys, join me in my task to hit this target, please donate what you can to push this fatty bum bum around London.

Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
